Once upon a time, somewhere in Europe, South-East.

A country was ruled by a communist!

December 1989 came and outburst mutiny,

Folks hidden in basements, folks staring at TV.

Heads of the rebellion face the TV camera, commenting!

Idealistic youth in front of merciless guns firing.

Dictator’s down! Hedonic mood seizes the nation.

Dreams come flooding in, as well as foreign donations!

Moments of waiting alternate with searching attempts,

Waiting with fervour to be part of NATO’s fighting camps.

Seeking for an identity, melange of American and French society.

Fumbling in the corners of illusion: “What do we wanna be?”

The rich and the famous, richer and more famous as years go by,

The poor, still poor say to every drop of joy, “Good bye!”

On TV news, triumphant government promises: “We’ll be EU nation!”

Grandpa sums up “I’am telling you, my child, we suffer of hope intoxication!”
